bookmaker/upholsterers
In the 1940s and 50s, there used to be a bookmaker, Clary Wilson, operating from
the former reading room in Church Street. Clary (pictured right) would take bets from the
villagers then run them up to the bookmakers in Corby.
In the late 1960s, George Smith used the building as an
upholsterer's
workshop, having previously worked from a cottage in Corby Road. It
is now the workshop for Museum Casts.
