Hi Jane

We have just discovered our Tansley family are from Cottingham, going back to William born about 1669. He married Ann Hubbard 29th November 1712 . I am planning a visit to Cottingham soon. Please could you tell me how to go about looking at the records you have in the village.

Thanking you

Quoy Bradbury (nee Tansley)

Hello Quoy,

Lovely to hear from you. The Tansleys are one of the oldest family names in the village!

With regards to records, there aren't any kept in the village any more, but you can find Parish records, census returns etc at the Northamptonshire County Records office. Here's a link to their website http://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/Community/Record+Office/Home.htm so you can find out where it is, opening times etc.

The Records Office has loads of fascinating information and the staff are extremely helpful. It's about a 45 minute drive from Cottingham.

Regards,

Jane
