Dear Jane,
I just found your Cottingham site, which is fascinating. Lots of excellent
information! I have Cottingham connections in the seventeenth and
eighteenth centuries. My 3x great grandfather, Charles Meadwell married
Mary West in Cottingham in 1788. They lived in Easton, but Charles’
father, Robert Meadwell or Maydwell was christened in Cottingham in 1725,
and as far as I can gather the family had lived there since at least 1645.
If anyone has information on the Cottingham Meadwells I would love to hear
from them. I also have Tansley ancestors, who I think are related to the
Thomas Tansley of Collyweston mentioned by Roy Adams of Ontario in his
letter.
